Après son solo An Immigrant’s StoryIn this trio, our associate artist explores the memory of the body to question the stories and emotions it holds. Our body is like a tapestry, a patchwork quilt made of fragments sewn together and constantly shredded by thousands of scissors. How can we free ourselves from the memories tattooed in our cells, muscles, tissues, organs, and blood? How can we reclaim our life stories? In this choreographic trio, Wanjiru Kamuyu questions the body’s ability to break free from the entanglement of inherited, lived, and suppressed stories. Through an inner journey of sensations, sounds, and lights, she explores the body in motion as a space of liberation and healing.
