The CCNN

PROJECT

Ambra Senatore, an Italian choreographer, has settled at the National Choreographic Center of Nantes since January 1, 2016, after years of artistic and geographical travels that have enriched her work.
Having made humanity her preferred creative foundation, she envisioned a lively and vibrant place where everyone can find their place: artists, of course, but also residents, amateurs, and local partners from the Nantes region.
A place driven by creativity and openness, like an invitation to embark on a journey to be imagined and shared together.
A haven where dance is seen as close and accessible to all.
A place to create, develop a rich repertoire, showcase the company's works in the Nantes region and internationally, and conceive new creations connected to the city and its inhabitants, rooted in reality.
A place to practice, open to all choreographic aesthetics. Ambra Senatore has settled in Nantes but also wants to, above all, use this wonderful facility to serve all other choreographers and dancers. It is meant to be a haven dedicated to research and development, a space where aesthetics collide and where encounters with spectators take place.
A place to experiment with dance, develop a practice rooted in sensations. It should become a playground and a space for discovery where everyone, whether a professional dancer or an amateur, child or adult, will find inspiration to move.
A place to share the work of artists, to create a community around dance, and to build connections. Far from being an isolated building, the CCNN offers a space for shared exploration that fully integrates into the already rich and interconnected cultural ecosystem of Nantes. Our festive, spectacular events are part of a cultural network, ensuring that dance spreads both within and outside the CCNN.
A place to convey the idea of a dance that is curious, open, and attuned to oneself and others. A space to absorb a choreographic culture, to learn, meet artists, build bridges between local venues, offer mediation, innovative educational tools, and intriguing conferences.
The journey can begin.

The CCNN is an active member with several partners for the development of choreographic creation.

THE CCN IN FRANCE

The Centre Chorégraphique National of Nantes is part of the network of nineteen National Choreographic Centers (CCN) created in France since 1984. The CCNs are led by choreographic artists. As resource centers for dance, they develop artistic projects based on the creation and diffusion of their own works, support for production, and the hosting of invited companies in residence. They also focus on the development of choreographic culture and training. These missions are entrusted to them by the State and local authorities, within the framework of cultural territory development and policies in favor of dance.

L'ACCN

The Association of National Choreographic Centers (ACCN) was created in 1995 in Caen, fifteen years after the establishment of the first CCNs. Its goal is to organize exchanges and debates between the teams of Choreographic Centers based on the missions entrusted to them (creation and diffusion of the repertoire, support for production, hosting of invited companies in residence, choreographic development, and training, and sometimes programming). These reflections are put into perspective with the field of public policies in favor of live performance and foster dialogues with a wide range of cultural and artistic actors. The ACCN also serves as an information-sharing platform, particularly for technical details, for its members and public partners, such as the General Directorate for Artistic Creation (DGCA) / Ministry of Culture and Communication. Finally, it aims to collectively amplify the viewpoints and positions of choreographer-directors. The Association currently includes the nineteen active CCNs.
